ALDEIA DE MARIALVA - Junho 2016

A aldeia de Marialva é uma das Aldeias Históricas de Portugal.

Povoada pelo povo lusitano, os Aravos, foi posteriormente conquistada pelos romanos, e depois pelos árabes, até à vitória final de D. Fernando Magno, em 1063. Em 1179 recebe a carta de foral de D. Afonso Henriques.

Manteve uma actividade intensa graças às feiras que aqui se realizaram até finais do séc. XVIII.

No interior das muralhas, destacam-se a Praça, onde se encontra o  Pelourinho e pelo edifício da antiga Casa da Câmara, também tribunal e cadeia (séc. XVII); alguns metros mais à frente a torre de menagem. Triste é o estado de degradação de todo o conjunto arquitectónico, que está praticamente em ruínas. Seria interessante a recuperação de todo o casario e colocar Marialva como nos seus tempos áureos. Isso sim era viajar no tempo e viver a história.

The Marialva village is one of the Historic Villages of Portugal.

Populated by the Lusitanian people, the Aravos was later conquered by the Romans and then by the Arabs, until the final victory of King Ferdinand I in 1063.  In 1179 receives the letter of charter by D. Afonso Henriques.

He kept an intense activity thanks to the fairs that were held here until the end of the century. XVIII.

Inside the walls, we highlight the Square, where the Pelourinho and the building of the former Town Hall, also court and chain (XVII.); a few meters ahead the donjon tower.

It is sad the degradation state of the whole architectural complex, which is practically in ruins. It would be interesting to recover all the houses and put Marialva as in their heydays. This was rather travel back in time and live history.
